Just a quick thank you to one of my more recent sponsors, and a sometime writing client of mine too – the lovely company that is Vivien of Holloway.
Hopefully, summer is on its way, and for those of you out there who favour a more casual look, there are some seriously cute and comfortable housedresses in the Viv shop these days.
There’s the Peggy Lee, which is perfect for running around in, pretending to water some already completely waterlogged plants… 😉
It’s made of a textured, linen-y cotton mix that’s easy to wear. I paired it with navy blue… a little bit patriotic and certainly Jubilee friendly!
In honour of the late, great Peggy Lee herself, here’s my all-time favourite songs of hers. Also featured on the Fallout New Vegas soundtrack. Bit melancholy, but it’s a nice contrast to the bright frock!
If you’re more of a button-down kind of gal, the Tea Dress is pretty and practical.
I love the shoulder pads (I’m all about shoulder pads at the moment), and the seersucker type fabric didn’t need any ironing. Massive win, since I hate ironing, and yet am chained to my board most of summer.
Modern hair meets vintage repro… what do you think??
Do visit Vivien of Holloway to see all these casual classics and of course her ultra glamorous partywear ranges. Thanks to Ms Viv for being such a lovely sponsor. 🙂

Haha, Fallout New Vegas. We have memorabilia all over our house, being vintage AND geeky.
Love that Peggy Lee, such a nice everyday type frock.
I love your hair! 🙂
I *love* how your new 'do looks with these dresses! Keeps 'em fresh and modern, yet classic, imho! 🙂
Oooh, I love the Peggy Lee! So simple but very stylish. It's nice to see VoH do a solid colour frock too, more options to accessorize.
The dresses are beautiful! Your hair suits you wonderfully, and who cares if it isn't 100% authentic! There's no shame in adding a little bit of contemporary style to modernise a vintage frock! 🙂
Hi Fleur!
I've been thinking about ordering the Peggy Lee for myself as a birthday pressi 🙂 But I was wondering about the fit, would you say that it's roomy, or true to size?
X,
Naomi
er…mine's marked a 12, which is about right on the waist for me, should be too small on the bust but as you can see it's fine! I'd say therefore more give in the bust but waist about true.
I think your hair looks lovely with those dresses, definitely!
(And I am envious of your quaint doorstep area… probably not a compliment you expected. lol)
I think the haircut is very… "Fleur", so yes it looks wonderful with vintage clothing ;D
!!! You look sensational!!
My haircut looks almost the same, and sometimes I get a little stumped as to how to style it vintage. Looking forward to seeing how you style yours; I know it will be fabulously inspiring.
xx
heh – this *is* it styled! I won't be doing much else than this for a while! 🙂
I think your hair looks great with the vintage style. And I love that red dress. It's so pretty and…red 😛 I just need to have at least one red dress in my wardrobe!
xoxo,
Agnieszka
Your hair looks fab with the style and doesn't take away from it at all. I don't think you need to worry one bit!!

Your waist looks teeny tiny in the red dress. I love them both.
The dress and hair go well together for both! It adds something a bit different to it all and I think you look great 🙂

I think that haircut is your best accessory yet! And I think you'll find those bangs ("fringe") to be rreeaally cute with up-dos this summer, while still being able to pull off vintage-looking hairstyles! Sweet~!
For some reason you're reminding me of Snow White in the red dress. Get a bird to perch on your hand and you'll be away!! LOL!!
Although sometimes you remind me of the actress Patricia Velasquez (I had to Google) from The Mummy Returns, which is an odd mix!
I'm actually really liking your new hair with the vintage looks, it looks lovely and sleek. (And I'm jealous how sleek your fringe looks!)
I think that you're completely rocking the modern hair and vintage look. It's a great juxtaposition!

The red dress is so cute, love the contrasting collar and cuffs, you look lovely as always x
delightful dresses! I've got to be honest, I prefer your hair with a bit of a curl, but I totally get that you're ready for a change and it looks nice straight too!

The hair proves that this style is timeless and classic and will always make a woman look her best. I love the hourglass silouette, natural waist and skirts that end just under the knee. Lovely and massively inspirational.
Kudos for the Fallout reference! As a vintage girl working in the video game industry, i love to find out that other people share the same geekiness!
where are the navy shoes from? x
