Maritime Monday

As much as I would have liked to have spent Monday by the seaside, on a canal, or even at a Lido; unfortunately, I had to spend it indoors. Working, and doing other such boring things.  But at least the location gave me the opportunity to do another outfit post!

Everyone loves a cheeky bit of nautical fashion, don’t they? Well, if you don’t, shh! I do – you’ll have seen me in all sorts of navy trousers and stripey numbers over the last four years of this blog. Well, I’m feeling pretty proud of myself for having just managed to put together an entirely new and never-before-seen outfit combo! I’ve created a kind of 1960s sailor girl look, embracing my new love for (and indeed current need of, given the heat) short skirts; not to mention some snazzy new shoes!

Ahoy! Here we have a high-waisted full mini-skirt, bought when I was trying to be all retro when I went running. It was cute to run in, but the fabric at the waist made it hot, so it got relegated to normal wear, though I don’t wear it too often, really. T-shirt is an old stripey favourite from years back… and the inspiration behind the outfit, my smashing new navy & white boat shoes, which I absolutely adore.

Skirt – American Apparel
T-shirt – H&M I think…
Shoes – c/o Chatham Marine

Ignore my speckly legs, please! But, with my hair all piled up like this, it definitely looks more 60s than it does 40s… or 50s… or even modern, don’t you think? Anyway, I must away and so I salute you all!

Hold fast you landlubbers!

Fleur xx

Everyone loves a bit of nautical styling! And darling, with pins like yours, short skirts are definitely the way to go!

I always used to wear a miniskirt to exercise (but then I probably wasn't working as hard as when you go running). Perhaps I should start doing it again, it would probably be an improvement on the ancient, baggy leggings (oh yes, I'm quite the style icon).

Nautical is one of my favorite looks– I love this outfit! Although I adore the look, it borders on a bit too ironic on me, since my husband is Navy and we live in one of the largest Navy towns… I've grown a bit more cautious with how far I take the look in recent months! 😉 lol. I really love how you've been rocking the shorter skirts too; they suit you well! (And I mean that in a totally non-creepy way. 😉

Check out your pins! You look amazing! Glad you've managed to enjoy some sunshine, finally here now after much horrid rain.

By the way, I just wanted to let you know I've given you the 'One Lovely Blog Award' here:

I've really loved reading your posts while I've been away with crippled hands, and found them really inspiring. I know I may not have been able to comment on many of them, but I just wanted to let you know how much they helped me. You got me out of a slump, given me plenty to giggle over, and puts some dates in my diary for events I've seen you've popped along to I've not yet managed, and just generally been inspiring. For that I want to say a great big THANK YOU!

PS – seems by some odd chance we have quite a few acquaintances in common, sure we'll bump into each other one day heh.

Very nice. Love those shoes.

Must try navy. Haven´t worn it since 7th grade, when everybody gave me compliments on a navy sweatshirt. Navy is kind of like black (which I have worn since 8th grade – a looong time) but it works in summer as well, right? Should be backbone of Perfect Wardrobe, my Life´s Quest.

Cute outfit, I love all things nautical. Those boat shoes are amazing! I'm from Chatham as well so I should definitely have a pair I reckon! Now who can I persuade to buy me shoes…
