Sun suit (without the sun)

A while ago, while Britain was gripped in the depths of winter, my lovely friend and sponsor Kim at Jitterbuggin sent me her 1940s swimsuit. We talked about me shooting some pictures for her as soon as the weather warmed up. Well, it still hasn’t.

I planned to do some pictures on Bethan’s boat, but it rained. It was warm and sunny for two days this week, it’s now back to stockings and warm coats. But I really didn’t want to leave it any longer before snapping a couple of pictures in the beautiful two-piece. So today, I did.

Now I know Kim wanted (as did I) a lovely swimming pool in the background. I’m sorry Kim. When the sun comes out over a weekend, a trip to the Lido will be the first thing on my agenda. These were done with the front door of my mum and dad’s house within dashing distance… it was majorly chilly. Still! I think it adds a certain charm to the pictures. A goosebumpy, wintry charm!

Presenting… (my pasty thighs which need more running and) the Manzanita Swimsuit from Jitterbuggin!

Clogs are Swedish Hasbeens Savannahs from Office

If you can just imagine a scorching Mexican beach behind me, that’d be grand…

On a serious note, I adore it and I can’t wait to wear it to lounge by a poolside in when the weather’s gone above about 12 degrees again!

No go! Go and visit Jitterbuggin and look at her beautiful things. I thank you (from my warm living room with the heating on).

The suit is gorgeous as are you!I sympathize with the lack of warm weather.Haven't seen much signs of spring where I am either.Hope it warms up so you can give that beauty some well deserved pool side time.

No matter if Mother Nature isn't in a cooperative mood, you and this stellar swimsuit bring your own sunshine and warm beauty to any location.

Hey, I'm sure you don't mean anything by it, but when you point out that a part of your very slender and conventionally attractive body is in need of more exercise, it is a bit triggering and kind of makes people like me feel pretty bad about their own bodies. I know you are allowed to have insecurities about your own body even if you are thin, but putting it on your paid blog with many thousands of readers who look up to you can have implications beyond just a critique of your own body. I hope you don't take this comment as a case of 'tall poppy syndrome or anything, as it does say you are open to constructive criticism, and the vintage community can be ridiculously fetishising of thin people which can be a bit difficult to navigate for a slightly flabby size 14. 🙂

Hmm. I am genuinely sorry if I 'triggered' anyone with my flippant remark but I do object to the idea that my body hangups should be kept secret because I'm perceived by others as being 'slender and conventionally attractive', since, as you say, I am 'allowed' to have them like anyone else… of course I am! This is a lifestyle blog and yes, occasonally posts are 'paid' with freebies (and even more occasionally money), it's not enough to make me not write what I would write, or say, anyway. I do genuinely think I need to do more exercise in order to feel and look better so I am as of last week doing more… in one fell swoop I put my mind at ease and feel better about myself generally. I recommend it 🙂

Yeah, she or anyone is free to discuss her own personal standards on her own site and the fact that they're higher than yours shouldn't get you down, it should get you motivated. Instead of being part of the current over sensitive and PC paralyzed culture and complaining about it, just buckle down and sweat your carcass into a shape that fits into things better. It does work. One life. One avatar with which to navigate it. Make it what you want it to be.

Wonderful to see photographs without involving fake tan, photoshop and a staged background, looking completely unrealistic and unobtainable.

I appreciate the suffering you went through so we could glimpse that fab suit! You look lovely.(and a wee bit cold)

You are obviously a professional, you don't show that it is cold outside at all!
